My Thoughts
Granola butter may sound a little weird, but trust me, it's goooood! It's like different flavored cookie dough in a jar, but the great thing about it is you can adjust the texture to suit your taste. You can leave it at room temperature and it's sort of a runnier consistency, a little runnier than frosting. Then if you refrigerate it for a little while you can get more of a frosting consistency, or you can leave it in the fridge longer and it will be like chunks of cookie dough, even longer and it's more like fudge.
It comes in a variety of flavors and they add or take away flavors occasionally. The flavors they have at the time of this post are:
Original (it has sort of a cookie butter taste)
Cookie Dough (it's chipless in the summer months because the chocolate chips melt, but you can add your own.)
All of the flavors are nut-free, soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, top 9 allergen-free, non-GMO, vegan, and Kosher
You can order 1 at a time or build a box of 3, 4, or 6 jars in any flavor(s) you'd like. You get a bit of a discount if you order through build a box.
You can also do one order at a time, or sign up for a subscription so you're sure to always have some on hand.
How Have I Tested?
I've tried quite a few of these over time. At first I could only order them online but eventually they started selling some limited flavors at my local Target so I was able pick them up there and not have to wait in anticipation for them to arrive in the mail!
Most of the time I leave it out on the counter and eat it right out of the jar, but sometimes I put it in the fridge for a while and add it to my ice cream for a cookie dough ice cream treat. Yum!
Here are my favorites:
Strawberry Shortcake (unfortunately, they don't currently offer this one)
I had a subscription for a while, but I literally had to cancel it because I would eat it so fast I kept adjusting my shipments closer and closer apart so I could have it more often. It was getting a bit out of hand! They sell the Brownie Batter Granola Butter at my local Target so I just limit myself to getting a jar whenever I happen to go there which isn't too often, so it's safer that way. :)
Pros and Cons
PROS:
Allergen-Friendly: They're allergen friendly which makes them a great treat for the kids!
Delicious: All of the flavors I've tasted have been great. There's really nothing I've tried that I wouldn't get again, but I definitely like to stick to my favorites.
Versatile: They taste great and I like the fact that you can change the consistency to suite your tastes I only ever ate it out of the jar or with ice cream but according to their website you can also: drizzle it, slather it, dunk it, dive it
CONS: As is the common theme around healthier food options, these are a bit pricier than the usual common grocery store snacks, but if you haven't been able to have certain sweets because of a dietary restriction, I think it's worth it.
Final Words
I would recommend giving this allergy-friendly treat a try. Be creative and come up with your own way to enjoy them!
